the well-being of her clients. From her office in Silver Spring/Wheaton, Maryland (Washington D.C. metro area), she offers both short-term and long-term individual, couples and group psychotherapy. In short-term therapy she helps you find practical solutions for immediate problems, while in long-term therapy the focus is on helping you understand and change self-destructive patterns. individual and family counseling for caregivers and stroke survivors.
Flora is Dutch and moved to the U.S. as an
adult.
She likes to work
with people who were born abroad and who are working
on bridging
the old
and the new world. She
is very well-versed in working with men and women who struggle with
depression, low self-esteem, anxiety and anger. She works well with
people who wish to be in a committed relationship and equally well with
people whose partners are reticent to participate in couples
therapy. She enjoys working with people in
transition such
as adjusting to (re)marriage, coping with divorce, adding a family
member, caring for aging parents, and adapting to chronic illness or
disability.Flora Ingenhousz, LCSW-C, BCD 11500 Nairn Farmhouse Court Silver Spring/Wheaton, MD 20902 (Metro rail accessible) Click

In collaboration with you, I
create a non-judging place in which to explore these and other
questions. We
often see our failures as bad luck, bad choice of partner, or a lack of
natural ability. More often it is a matter of how we respond. Often the
very responses that were effective when we grew up
become
obstacles to loving ourselves and others in adulthood. In long- term therapy, you have the opportunity to explore, rethink and change these habitual ways of responding. You will learn new ways to act that will bring more satisfaction, joy, effectiveness, intimacy and balance. Just like other skills this will require practice. Mozart was blessed with great musical ability but it took lots of practice and courage to become a great composer.
